On November 4, I was finally able to get all of my information (I skipped anything that was labeled Optional) into Healthcare.gov . The system ultimately did not work..but I did get all the way to the screen where I could VIEW ELIGIBILITY RESULTS.
When I clicked on the green button, a 13 page document was produced a 13 page document that should have told me what my options are and how I can purchase coverage at the Marketplace. Due to my income, the document said that I would NOT be eligible for any tax credits. This is what I would have expected since my family (thankfully) makes more than 400% of Federal Poverty.
Results for me: I can purchase coverage at the Marketplace, but I do not get tax credits. CORRECT
Results for my wife: She I can purchase coverage at the Marketplace, but she does not get tax credits. CORRECT
THEN A PROBLEM.
Results for my kids: They CANNOT get coverage through the Marketplace. INCORRECT
I ended calling Healthcare.gov hotline number, and spoke to a Supervisor about this issue. She said that it DOES NOT MAKE SENSE and that my kids should be able to purchase through the Marketplace without a subsidy, and the notice appears to be due to “technical difficulties. She mentioned that she could escalate the issue or I can file an appeal.
Here is a part of the audio of our call. Verbal notice of the recording was given.
