No way to cancel Obamacare Coverage

OK, so yesterday I finally received my invoice from the insurance company, and confirmed the coverage.  My test is now complete.

Since it was just a test, I had no intention to purchase the coverage.  I need to cancel my coverage with the insurance company before it goes into effect.

When I called the insurance company, they told me it would need to be done at  (I’m not really looking forward to going back there).

So I logged back on to the site, and looked for a cancel button.  Here are my options on the page.

Note there is no button to cancel my current coverage.  So I clicked on the button that said REMOVE.   The following popped up.

So back to the main screen where I searched again for Plans and Programs.   No Luck.

I then decided to call the 800# as was suggested on the site.  Here is a summary of the audio.

NO luck there either.  So I can’t cancel by the insurance company, nor by the web site, nor by the 800#.  

I can check out anytime I want, but I can never leave.  


Day 106 Finally got my Obamacare premium statement.

After 106 days of attempting to purchase coverage, I finally got my statement from the insurance company.  It came from the insurance company directly, and the premium amount matched the earlier premium amount that I thought I was purchasing.

However, it did not tell me what type of coverage i would receive, nor did it tell me who in my family was getting coverage.  To get that, I would need to call the insurance company directly.

So I called the company, and YES, the plan and the people from my family covered were correct.  The enrollment was now complete.

However, this plan is about 50% higher than my current plan….so I want to cancel it before I put it into effect.  

I informed the insurance company rep that I wanted to cancel. She told me I would need to go to in order to do so.   Insurance companies cannot cancel directly. 




On October 1, I started my journey to enroll in Obamacare through  That did not go well.  On this blog I chronicled the process.   That was 105 days ago.  Here is a screenshot of my first experience.


On December 1, I finally broke through and was able to get insurance quotes through   I selected a plan, and elected to enroll in coverage.   I even received the success message below.


That was 35 days ago.  
Since that time, I have receive NO CONFIRMATION from the insurance company that I am indeed enrolled.
I have called both the insurance company, and the hotline to track my application.  

Nobody can tell me what happened.

At 105 Days, I am assuming that I do not have new coverage through Obamacare.

I give up.
